The Sumner Food Bank is open for customers every 1st and 3rd Monday 9am-Noon. Please send in your shopping list (below) via email to [email protected] or in person by dropping it off in the food bank porch box not later than the Friday prior to the Monday of Food Bank. Unless otherwise noted, we will be sticking to the 1st/3rd Monday schedule, regardless of holidays. We'll post exceptions here if they arise. Contact us if you are unable to come on Mondays.
If you are unable to submit your food order in advance, please delay your arrival until not earlier than 10:15am on the distribution day since we will be busy serving customers with orders in our shelves and inserting new orders in that process creates confusion and has led to misfilled orders.
The Hartford food pantry has moved in with us as a single site serving customers on 1st/3rd Mondays. All customers, regardless of town of residence, are served.
Only volunteers are allowed inside - part of minimizing risk for customers and allowing us to be efficient in serving double the number of customers we served pre pandemic. As well, please recognize that as we try to serve 50+ families each distro day here is always lurking the opportunity for confusion. Limiting access to the interior and porch of the food bank to volunteers helps us stay focused and reduces the chances of confusion.

Here is our current customer choice process:
If you are unable to pick up your order please contact us (388-2610) and tell us that. Otherwise we will return these orders to stock at the close of the distribution day.
- Submit your orders in advance. We will pull product in advance and have those boxes ready on distribution day. If you are unable to submit your order in advance, please come to the food bank after 10:15 on distribution days. That will reduce your wait time (we serve the food orders first when there is a line) and reduce confusion for volunteers as we seek to best serve everyone.
- Only volunteers are allowed in the building.
- Our distribution point is the food bank porch. Check in at the food bank porch. You will receive the order form for the next distro day and a list (on blue paper) of produce and other items not on our order list but which are available.
- Park and wait for one of the volunteers to call you over to pick up your orders.
